Teaching in Dharamsala (H.P.), India from March 12 to 21: His Holiness will give his annual spring teachings at the Main Tibetan Temple.

The Quintessence of Compassion:
His Holiness will give a discourse on universal compassion, Nying-rje Chen-po, Universal Great Heart, the essence of the Buddha's teaching. He will base this teaching on Master Chandrakirti's (7th century) famous opening verses of his Introduction to the Middle Way, where the great sage of Nalanda University pays homage to compassion above all, and gives a beautiful simile about the three types of great compassion, using the image of the moon reflected in the water of a pond.
